Bloomington (Calif.) linebacker Jayson Allmond (6-0.5, 248) is built like a mack truck, and the two-way threat is hoping his big spring will catapult him into the forefront of recruiters minds.
“I haven’t gotten an offer yet, but I’m hoping by the summer, I’ll have some offers,” said Allmond.
And with the spring he’s having, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Allmond stood out at the Los Angeles Nike Camp last month and he’s hoping to repeat his efforts at the UnderArmour/Scout.com Combine and college camps at Arizona State, UCLA and Oregon State.
“I’m just hoping I keep doing my thing at these camps and coaches notice,” said Allmond.
A handful of schools have been keeping tabs on Allmond, including Arizona State, Washington State, Nevada, Oregon, California, Oklahoma, Miami and UCLA.
Allmond went to UCLA and Arizona State’s Junior Days and was pleased with both experiences.
“They were really cool and I liked them both. Arizona State’s was cool, I got to go to their spring game. At UCLA, the campus was beautiful and I got along really well with the coaches.”
Allmond said seven schools stood out, with no school emerging as the true leader.
“My top schools are Arizona State, Oregon, Cal, Oklahoma, Miami, UCLA and USC,” said Allmond.
And he’s not in any rush to make a decision on his college future.
“I just want to take my time and make the right decision for me and my family,” said Allmond.
Allmond is coming off a season in which he rushed for 95 yards on six carries and scored a touchdown and had 10 receptions for 297 yards and three touchdowns. He made his biggest mark on defense, with 60 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Academically, Allmond has a 2.4 GPA and scored an 890 on the SAT.
