Marsalis Teague reported, “I got offered by Tennessee. I’ve been down there a couple times. It’s a great environment with the coaching staff and coach Fulmer.”
“I have a teammate going down there, so it would be nice to play with him again.”
Teague explained of the offer, “My recruiting coach down there called coach Gaddis, and then he called me to tell me to call them. When I called they offered a full scholarship.”
Teague’s teammate is Tennessee commitment, Dominique Allen, who according to Teague is not pressuring him right now to commit to the Volunteers.
Teague said of Allen’s reaction to his offer, “When I called and told him today he told me ‘you got to come with me’, but really he said I’ve got to do what’s best for me. If it’s meant to be, then I will come with him.”
When asked how much of a role Allen’s commitment to Tennessee might play Teague said, “It plays a big role. We’ve been on the same team since we have been in Pop Warner, and it would be kind of funny if we didn’t go to the same school.”
However he added, “At the same time I still have to do what’s best for me when I make this decision.”
Teague, an athletic spread-type quarterback for his high team, projects to play another position on the next level.
He reported, “It’s between wide receiver and cornerback and do some punt return and kick return.”
As far as trading in the signal calling duties he said, “To me it won’t be an issue. I play quarterback here because we run the spread, but in college I see myself playing a wide receiver or cornerback.”
With two offers in two days Teague commented, “There are still a couple of schools that coach Gaddis keeps in touch with.”
He added of the schools not offered but has interest, “All the big name schools like LSU and Georgia maybe. I’m excited about the schools that have offered me already. I’m more excited about the schools I do have and try not to think about those that I do not have.”
As far as a timetable things have not changed much with Teague. With eight offers he still persists, “It’s going to take time, and I’m going to progress on into it.”
