“My most recent offer is from Virginia Tech,” said Tucker Windle. “They offered me about three weeks ago. It was great when they offered. I talked to coach [Frank] Beamer for a while. He was real nice.”
“Virginia Tech football speaks for itself. They won the ACC championship this past year. I would walk into a winning program if I decided to go there. It was just spectacular to receive an offer from them.”
The Hokies are the latest to offer Windle, but it’s two other schools garnering his attention.
“I do have some favorites," Windle said. "My top two are Virginia and Wake Forest. My dad played linebacker at Virginia. It would be pretty special to play there.”
“I have always been a Virginia fan. I went up there and hung out with some of the guys. Coach [Al] Groh is easy to talk to. It’s the No. 1 public school in the country for academics. It’s just a great place to be.”
“Wake Forest is only an hour from my home. It’s not a factor, but always good for anyone to come up and watch. It’s a small school, a better student-teacher ratio. The coaches and fans know about you. I went there for the spring game, and it’s like one big family reunion.”
Windle has tentative plans set for the summer.
“I am going to a couple 7-on-7 passing competitions," he said. "That right now is all I am doing. I am going to sit down and see which camps I can go to. We should know within the next week or two where all I am going."
Windle will attend the Under Armour/Scout.com combine in Charlotte this weekend, but will not participate.
