Getting It Done On & Off The Field Premium Story
Caleb Knights
FOOTBALL RECRUITING ANALYST

Knowing football is a tool capable of presenting options in one’s life; this Ohio prospect is getting it done on and off the field picking up his first official offer in the process.

Chillicothe, Ohio once provided college football and the NFL with a scholar athlete by the name of Garin Veris.  The former Stanford and NFL player used academics and his athletic ability to do great things on and off the field.  But while it’s been several years since Veris took the field, his past has helped another Chillicothe prospect see that football is short lived and what is done in the classroom and community play just as important roles in one’s life.

Caleb Knights learned early that academics came before any success in athletics.  Having carried a 4.0 GPA since the sixth grade, Knights knew one day his success in the classroom would help him with is success as a quarterback at the high school level.

Entering his senior season Knights will be a 4-year starter at Chillicothe High School (Ohio) in football while also playing a vital role in the schools basketball program during the same time.

At 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, Knights has earned many honors since winning the starting quarterbacks spot as a freshman.  But while most athletes would gush over their stats and honors, Knights attention turns to his success in the classroom and his community service.

It was these traits that helped the quarterback earn his first scholarship offer from West Point this past week and while it’s too early to say if he’ll accept this offer it is one he’ll deeply consider.

Besides getting his offer from Army, Knights has also been hearing a lot from Stanford and several Ivy League schools.

While he’d love to take a D-I BCS scholarship offer, the dual-threat Knights knows passing up an Ivy school is something he may not be able to do.

“Caleb has worked very hard in the classroom and has been blessed with some great athletic skills,” Said his father Keith Knights.  “While we all dream of Caleb playing big-time college football, we also know the game is such a small part of one’s life and the chance to attend an Ivy League school is something not all people are capable of doing.  Right now Stanford is showing interest and that could be the perfect fit, but we’ll have to wait and see how it all works out.”

As a junior, Knights stats showed a player taking part in much of the team’s offense as both a runner and passer.  As a runner Knights ran the ball 119 times for 450 yards and 5 touchdowns while passing 192 times completing 115 for 1,325 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Scheduled to take part in the Under Armour / Scout.com Combine in Cincinnati on May 17, Knights looks to increase his offer total with a solid performance.
