Tyler Russell closed out his college recruitment a few weeks back when he made the decision to commit to the Mississippi State Bulldog program. Since committing, Russell has caused quite a stir with good performances on the spring combine tour. Other schools have taken notice of the talented quarterback and have decided to inquire to see if a connection could be made. | |||

Tyler Russell profile "I talked to Coach Davis from Alabama last week," said Tyler. "He wanted to know why I committed early. I told them I thought I had enough on my highlight video to generate some interest and that Mississippi State showed me the most interest. Mississippi State is where I am going. He said that was good and all, but that he was going to continue to recruit me." Alabama is not the only SEC school to test the level of Russell's commitment to Mississippi State. "A coach from Tennessee came by," explained Tyler. "Coach Weems talked to him and he told him that I was a solid commitment to Mississippi State. The coach from Tennessee told him that if I had any interest in them at all to call him. I haven't." Meridian High School has had it's share of visitors since spring practice began. Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Tennessee, ULM and others have all dropped in for a quick look at what the Wildcats have to offer. "I am glad they are all coming," said Tyler. "It let's me know I am a good quarterback and that people are interested in me. It's really a lot of motivation for me. I can go to State and play against all of these teams that didn't show me a lot of interest in the beginning. I am really looking forward to it." |
