Rashun Dixon did what most people thought he would do this spring. He went out and had the best baseball season of his young career. Major League Baseball scouts were in large supply at several of Rashun's high school games. The big question on the table now is where will the talented Dixon be drafted? | |||

Rashun Dixon profile "We lost out this past weekend to Ocean Springs," said a disappointed Rashun. "I think we played our worst ball we played all year and it showed. We can't worry about that now. Things happen how they happen." Rashun was one of the main offensive cogs in the Terry High offensive. He took a lot of pride in his improved results from the batter's box. "I think I had a pretty good year," said Dixon. "I did a little better than I expected to do. I think I hit the ball a lot better. I didn't strike out near as many times as last year. I think I only struck out three times this year." Now that the season is over, Rashun will go through a process where he fields calls and visits from major league scouts who will attempt to determine his signability. "I am get a lot of invitations to pre-draft work outs and they want me to come work out for their G.M. and their front office people," said Rashun. "After that I will just wait on draft day and see what happens." Dixon has a window of where he expects to be taken and in the event he should slide from his desired slot, he will enroll in college this fall. "I am looking at going in the first three rounds," said Rashun. "If it's anything after that, we won't be having anymore conversations about the draft. If I get picked later than that, then I will just go to college and play football and baseball." The Bulldog coaching staff just recently gave the talented Dixon a little more to think about when he contemplates his future. "Coach Croom called me last night," said Rashun. "He told me that if I came to State this fall that I wouldn't have to gray shirt. He said I could come in and play and maybe play some fullback." There are still a lot of questions that need to be answered. Dixon has sought the advice of his two older brothers, Anthony and Antwon. "They both tell me to do what is best for me," said Rashun. "They know I love football and baseball. They told me to make my own decision and to make sure it's what I want to do and not what somebody else tells me I should do." |
