Lampley Plans to Return to the Post Season

Tracey Lampley and the rest of the Big Orange Nation from Wayne County had to sit out the post season in 2007 after coming up just short of receiving a berth. The sting of watching area rival Laurel win the state title has only stoked the competitive fire within Lampley even more. | |||

Tracey Lampley profile "Things are going real well in spring practice," said Lampley. "We've been out there for three weeks now. We are about to play McComb in our spring game. They are supposed to be stacked on defense. Right now we look pretty good. We are looking to get back on track. I think we are capable of going all the way. We have good leadership, a great coaching staff and players with a lot of determination." The Wayne County spring practice sideline has not been as crowded this spring as it has been in years past. That is expected to change this week. "I think Alcorn State is pretty much the only one that has been by so far," said Tracey. "I am expecting some other schools to be out there this week some time." College coaches from Mississippi State and Southern Miss have been in contact with the talented running back by telephone and so far no one is pushing him to make an early decision. "They tell me that they want me to take my time and make the right decision," explained Lampley. "I am not in any hurry. I am probably going to camp at Tennessee and Auburn. I know I am going to camp at Mississippi State and Southern Miss." Tracey has already had the junior day guided tour, so when he returns to the campuses this summer and fall he will be looking at the programs from a different vantage point. "I am going to really look at what they are running on offense," said Lampley. "I am looking to see how I would fit in." Tracey holds offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss and he expects to make his decision after his senior season is over. |
