Wil Richards, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete from Lees Summit West High in Mo., was ecstatic to hear that Army was stepping up to the plate with an official scholarship offer.
“It was awesome,” Richards explained. “He sat me down and said that you have an offer. I said man coach you do not know how much of a relief that is!”
“It was awesome just getting that first one and hopefully that starts the waterfall effect and gets some of the other schools attention, but Army is awesome and the campus is beautiful. I hope to make a visit up there real soon. It is a relief more than anything.”
Army is not the only school to show Richards attention as of late.
“I have been talking to TCU a lot,” Richards said. “I went down there a couple of weekends ago. Missouri is up there a lot. Coach Hill is up there all of the time and we talk on the phone often.”
“I really like Nebraska. I have been up there three or four times. I went to a couple of games last year and I was invited to the Spring Game this year. I talked to the coaches a little, which was awesome.”
Richrads has some versatility as far as his future positions are concerned. He reports he could play safety, corner, or offense on the next level.
“I measured in at 6-foot-0 at the Mizzou five-star academy day, but I am actually about 5-11,” Richards stated truthfully. “It is just a height deal most of the time, but I will play wherever you want me to play and I will do whatever you want me to do.”
“I really like strong safety. I could play corner. I am playing slot this year. It is whatever gets me the attention. I like to hit people… I love to hit people. I think that is what sets me apart.”
Richards will be attending the Under Armour/ Scout.com Combine in Kansas City on June 8th.
