Tyree Watkins continues to pick up offers from the big boys and this week Stanford and Minnesota entered the picture for the Camden, N.J., product. Watkins has not yet been rated by Scout.com, but will be attending the Under Armour/Scout.com Combine in Baltimore, Md., on June 3rd and will be looking to earn some national respect in the spotlight against some of the best from his region. | |||

Tyree Watkins, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver from Camden High School grabbed two more offers this week from Stanford and Minnesota, putting his total into the double-digits so far. We caught up with him on Thursday night to find out what he sees in each program. “Stanford just came through with an offer and first and foremost they offer excellent academics,” Watkins explained. “I see them as a program that is definitely on the rise with a new head coach in Jim Harbaugh. They beat USC and Cal last season and have the talent to play.” “Distance doesn’t really play a factor for me at all and I would actually be really excited to play out in California,” Watkins added. “Coach Harbaugh just told me he thought I was an exceptional athlete and said he loved my film. I’ll be taking a trip to Palo Alto in June.” “I really like the staff at Minnesota lot and like that they’re confident in themselves, saying they can win the Big Ten,” Watkins stated. “They told me they are going to start throwing the ball a lot more than they have in the past. They also have the field on campus now and I am excited to see what that environment is like because it’s a big change from before.” We had previously stated in articles that Watkins was 5-foot-11, however those measurements were taken quite some time ago. When we saw him in person in Akron it was obvious that he was in the area of height that he reported to us on Thursday night. |
