Skinner Finishes Spring with a Win

Noxubee County High School recently put the finishing touches on the first leg of their journey back to Jackson, Mississippi and the 4A state title game. After winning the north half in 2007, Skinner and his teammates are committed to going back to state in 2008 and coming home with a golden football.

"I am really trying hard this to be an every down player," said Skinner. "I am out there trying to give 100% all of the time. I think we have a great chance to get back to state and win it this time. It really motivates me to do better and give more effort."

Deontae was able to put his new maximum effort approach to the test earlier this week, when they took on a familiar foe in the spring game for both teams.

"We beat Starkville 28-7," said Skinner. "I had an alright game. It wasn't my best game, but I did pretty good. Our wide receivers did really good. They scored just about all of the touchdowns."

A quartet of schools have recently stopped by the Macon, Mississippi high school to observe spring practice.

"Southern Miss, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Ole Miss have all been by," said the talented linebacker. "I didn't get the chance to talk to any of them though."

Skinner recently tabbed the Mississippi State Bulldogs as his top school and not has much has changed since that declaration.

"I am still undecided, but Mississippi State is still my top school," said Deontae. "My family told me to just follow my heart and go to the place for me. I am just not sure yet."
