Cincinnati Combine Report: Stock Rising
No offers? No problem. These players showed that you can't always spot talent by looking at an offer list. Here are several players with zero or few scholarship offers who could be popping on your team's recruiting radar in the near future. Ali Alaboody - RB - Dearborn Fordson (MI) Alaboody's testing numbers alone would have gotten him listed here. His 4.4 forty, 38-inch vertical, 10-4 broad jump and 4.1 shuttle were all at or near the top of their respective categories. He didn't stop there though, he showed outstanding hands and his speed made him tough to stay with in 1-1s. In the coming weeks, he will head to summer camps at Michigan, Michigan State, Western Michigan and Central Michigan where he should continue to prove his name belongs with the best in Michigan. Keithan Hedrick - DB - Bremen (IL)What he lacks in size, Hedrick made up for in many ways. He is tough, aggressive and doesn't back down from anybody. He showed good change of direction and did a nice job breaking on a couple passes. He also wasn't afraid to be physical at the line of scrimmage. A safety in high school, cornerback may end up being his college position. He reports interest from several MAC schools and is nearing an offer from Northern Illinois. Jordan Hopgood - WR/DB - Cincinnati PrincetonA big, physical presence, Hopgood made several nice plays in 1-1s. He showed he could line up on either side of the ball and be effective. He proved he has the ball skills to be a wide receiver or a defensive back. Already holding an offer from Eastern Michigan, it would be very surprising if he didn't add to that list very soon. Dakotah Tyler - DB - Indianapolis Pike Tyler is a big kid at 6'0, 205 and he blazed the fastest 40 time of the day with a 4.38. A safety in high school, he showed man to man coverage ability in the 1-1s depsite being raw in technique. He made one great play where he caught to a crossing route and made a diving break up. A number of schools have shown him interest but he doesn't have an offer yet which I don't expect will be the case for long. Luke Swift - WR Center Grove (IN) His quarterback Jordan Luallen constantly is saying Luke is the "best wide receiver you've never heard of." Well, he's been heard from now as Swift turned in a speedy 4.5 forty yard dash time, then used that speed to take defenders deep in 1-1s. A good route runner who tracks the ball well and just seems to make plays, after yesterday's showing, we definitely think Luallen is onto something.
