"I really like Iowa," Dolapo Macarthy said. "It's a great city. The stadium is huge and the facilities are really good too. They really opened their doors to me and it just felt like home. I felt a good vibe with everyone there. There's not much else there, so everyone loves Iowa football and the fans are great. It's a fun atmosphere to be in. I also like the relationship that the coaches..."

Dolapo Macarthy, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound three-star quarterback from Merrillville, Ind., finished his junior season with 109 completions on 255 attempts for 1,807 yards and 11 touchdowns with only four interceptions. He also rushed 128 times for 558 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns.

He helped lead his team to a 12-2 record and reached the 5A state semifinals.

"I like having the ball when the game is on the line," Macarthy said. "I thrive in those situations and I'm just a competitor. I love to compete and I'm also a good leader.

"I have a strong arm and use my athleticism when the play breaks down," he said. "I can make thinks happen, but I'd say my number one strength is my decision-making ability."

Macarthy, ranked as the No. 49 quarterback in the country by Scout.com, says he can bench 250-pounds, squats 425 and has a 33-inch vertical jump.

"The one thing I need to work on is my consistency," he admitted. "I want to be able to deliver a more catchable ball to my receiver every single time."

Macarthy has offers from Iowa, Indiana and Bowling Green, but only the Hawkeyes are in his top five. He said he now favors Iowa slightly over Michigan State, Illinois, Florida and Ohio State.

"I really like Iowa," he said. "It's a great city. The stadium is huge and the facilities are really good too. They really opened their doors to me and it just felt like home. I felt a good vibe with everyone there.

"There's not much else there, so everyone loves Iowa football and the fans are great," Macarthy said. "It's a fun atmosphere to be in. I also like the relationship that the coaches and players have, because they all seem to really get along. They made me feel very comfortable and welcome."

Macarthy favors the Hawkeyes now, but says that as a youngster he always followed Illinois. "I'm from the Chicago area and always liked the Chicago teams especially Illinois and the Bears," he said. "Illinois invited me to their camp (which he is attending on June 16) and said they are really interested. They want to see me in person and see how I perform for them."

Macarthy will also be attending camps at Michigan State on June 12, Florida on June 18 and Ohio State on June 20. "I'm gonna be pretty busy next month," he laughed.

Although he is attending the Ohio State camp, he says he isn't too high on the Buckeyes. "They have like six or seven quarterbacks already, so that's probably not a place that I'm too serious about," he admitted.

"I don't want to sit and wait forever," he said. "Every school is like three or four quarterbacks deep and I'll probably redshirt wherever I go. But I want to make sure I'll be able to play after I redshirt."

Speaking of quarterback depth - "I know Florida has Tim Tebow, but he's not going to be there too long," he said. "Then they have like three other guys, but I think I'd have a good chance to play after one redshirt year. Even if Tim Tebow decided to stay his senior year, I'd be able to sit behind him and learn.

"Tim Tebow is awesome," he said. "There are not many quarterbacks that can do what he does. I idolize him."

Macarthy feels the Gators are high on him despite not having been offered yet. "They are so talented and it would be a great place to play," he said. "They have some great athletes and coaches too. I went to a game there when I was 10 and the Swamp is amazing. I love it. Ever since then I've always liked Florida."

Another school that Macarthy is optimistic he'll get an offer from is Michigan State. "I like the offense that they run," he said. "I think I'd fit in well there and it would benefit me for the next level.

"They haven't really ever had a quarterback like me before and typically only have pocket passers," he said. "So I think I could go there and changes things around and maybe help get them to the next level and create some more excitement there."

Macarthy says he doesn't plan on making a decision until after his senior season. "I don't want to be distracted during my season," he said. "I'll pick a school once we're done.

"I'd like to play for an offense that I fit in and where I can show off my skills," he said.

He reports a 2.5 core GPA and is taking the SAT for the first time in June.
