What are his strengths on the field?
"My foot
quickness is the biggest thing," added Julius Forte. "I have good agility,
and I am good at reading the plays."
The mind is a plus for Julius
as he carries a 3.1 Core GPA and has already made a qualifying score on the ACT
test with an 18. He was named to the All-County Academic and Football teams.
"There
are too many people who play the game that do not think out here. You can have
all of the ability in the world, but if you are not playing smart, it only gets
you so far."

This summer, Forte plans on taking in a few
camps.
"I am thinking about going to a few but nothing has been finalized.
South Florida, N.C. State, and Florida all want me to come to their camp. Auburn,
Syracuse, and Indiana. A lot of schools want me to visit and go to their 1 Day
camp."
Spring practice is under way and a slew of college recruiters
have been by to scout the All-County selection.
"Our spring game is
not until May 30th. We have had Georgia, FSU, Cinfi, Illinois, Indiana, N.C State,
Iowa, and Ole Miss come by."
Any offers?
"I have four.
North Carolina State, Indiana, Cinci, and Troy State have offered me."
Who
closest to offering next?
"I have a couple that come to mind. I think
Ole Miss is real close to offering. I also think Iowa and South Florida are close
too."
Which schools stand out?
"Well, actually I like
them all. I just enjoy the recruiting process. It still is amazing to me. I have
been waiting for the longest time to get this much attention and now I am getting
it. I am just enjoying it and everyone is equal right now."
Talk about
the schools who have offered you.
N. C. State
- "They have a new staff. They have Boston College's former head coach on
their staff. This is like his second season at NC State. They have been known
for putting out some defensive linemen to the league. They also have a good program
in my major, Physical Training. That is a plus."
Cinci
- "They just came to our school and offered me. I have not had too much time
to do any research with them, but what I have seen from their past records, I
like them."
Indiana - "I learned
a lot about Indiana when they recruited my former teammate, Orhian Johnson. I
got to meet their staff when they were recruiting Orhian, and we became pretty
close. I think they have done a lot for that program. They have really turned
it around. Indiana is a strong possibility for me."
What does Forte
know about the schools who are close to offering?
Ole
Miss - "I just talked to Ole Miss not long ago. He is their defensive
back coach, Chris Vaughn. He is real cool too. Plus, I have a good friend who
goes there, Lawon Scott. He is from St. Petersburg (FL) too. He plays on the defensive
line for Ole Miss. We talk a lot when he comes back home from school, and he is
telling me a lot of good stuff."
Iowa - "Actually, they are in
the same boat as Ole Miss. I just started talking to them too. But Jeffrey Brinson,
a friend of mind, signed with Iowa. I talk to him a lot about the school."
South
Florida - "It is pretty close to home. I talk to them quite a bit.
I have seen their campus a bunch. It is a pretty cool school that is close to
home. That is a plus. I know a lot of the people over there. I am satisfied with
them."
There is also another school that is heavily in the mix.
"Coach
Johnson from Ohio State are real close. They signed Orhian Johnson from my school
and I really like Coach Johnson. I like his personality. He is really family oriented,
but at the same time, he gets down to business and gets the job done. He is also
a very down to earth type person."
