Mike James is never at a loss for words when it comes to his recruitment. James has made some…
Florida RB Liking Several
"I have a lot of offers now," said Mike James. "I probably have close to 15 to 20 offers. My most recent offers are from Boston College, Illinois, Kentucky, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech." "The running back coach [Burton Burns] at Alabama has to show the head coach [Nick Saban] my highlight tape. I think they are close to offering." "We had a bunch of coaches visit during the spring. Boston College, Alabama, Illinois, UConn, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Purdue, USF, UCF and Syracuse visited. There were a few more, but I can't remember them all." "I don't have any plans yet for the summer. It's hard to travel with gas prices so high. I would like to visit Alabama. We usually go up there each summer." James is not ready to name a top five, but several have his attention. "The schools sticking out to me are Louisville, Illinois, Kentucky, Boston College and Wake Forest. I am still waiting on the offer from Alabama. I am really liking all of those schools. I am real excited about, hopefully, getting an offer from Alabama." "I was thinking I would make my decision by the beginning of my senior year. I then thought maybe in the middle of the season, I could see some schools. I could see how I would fit in with the players, check out the climate and the environment. I want to be comfortable." Louisville: "I just love the way coach [Brent] Myers talks to me. He talks to me like I am a grown man. He and coach [Tony] Alford came to our scrimmage game. I was real impressed by that. That shows a lot of interest. They would sacrifice their day to come see me scrimmage. They were my second offer." Illinois: "I like the way coach [Mike] Locksley is recruiting me. He is very down to earth. He respects me, and I respect him. He tells me how it is. I want to go see what they are like. I like the team, and the way they play football. Coach Ron Zook seems like an awesome person. Illinois seems like a nice fit for me." Kentucky: "That is another one I like. They are down south. I have been there before. They run the ball. They spread it around. The coaches are down to earth. They are real cool. They are honest. They are all about being one team. I like the way they have approached me. I like how academics are first." Boston College: "They offered me today. That was pretty awesome. I like how the coaches are up front with me. They said it's a little cold up there. I don't mind. They have a great education program. It's a big plus. I like the way they play football. They have had 10 years of winning seasons. I want to go somewhere I will win." Wake Forest: "I like how Wake runs the ball. They were sixth in the nation running the ball. It's right up my alley. They find ways to get the running back in different ways. I like that about them. I could play by the end of my freshman year or sophomore year. They were honest with me." Alabama: "Oh man, Alabama…I have pictures of Alabama, and teachers who are always saying Roll Tide. I love the way they play football. I love it. I love the atmosphere. The coach [Jim McElwain] approached me with honesty. He came to my practice once and then came back to school. I have a good time talking to him. He is not only my recruiter, but like my best friend. I think Alabama could be a home away from home." The 5-foot-11, 209-pound prospect talked about his strength and what he hopes to improve. "My biggest strength is I am a threat," James explained. "I can run you over. I can get around you, and I can catch the ball. Strength is my biggest strength. I pound you, and then outrun you. I give the defense a hard time. I just pound people." "My coach and I are going to work on coming out of my cuts. I want to get quicker at the point of attack, work on break away speed, work on catching the ball more and working on reading blocks. We are going to zone this year. I want to get smarter as a football player."
