Detroit Mumford's Dennis Martin impressed for the second year in a row with the velocity on his passes. He also threw the ball 62 yards in the long ball competition.

Young gun Devin Gardner of Inkster is one of the state's top quarterbacks for 2010. He threw the ball well on Day 2 of the camp and showed improved mechanics. He threw it 65 yards in the long ball.

Detroit Southeastern also had a good rising junior QB in Edward Thomas. Thomas showed me he could put some heat on the ball in drills and then confirmed it, finishing second in the long ball contest, heaving it 68 yards.

I can't say enough how much Highland Park QB Ian Thomas has improved since last year. He was throwing the ball more accurately and with better zip this year. He too broke the 60-yard mark in the long ball.

Former Melvindale and current Inkster QB Jaisaun Holt arrived late, but made up for lost time. He was one of the better passers on Day 2, showing a powerful arm in drills and throwing it 65 yards in the long ball.

Tony Lippett of Detroit Crockett doesn't have the arm strength the other QBs here had, but he had one of the best touch balls and threw the ball accurately throughout the two days of the camp.

Detroit Cass Tech's Thomas Gordon worked out at safety and did well, but came back over to QB and stole the show late in the day as he threw the ball 77 yards, winning the long ball contest. Already with three offers, more should be coming and a number of schools are and will give him a shot as a QB.
