Scout.com learned Tuesday morning that Kimo Makaula, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound QB/ATH from the Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawai'i, received his first scholarship offer - from UNLV.

"On May 31 I received a call from UNLV recruiting coordinater Keith Uperesa that they would offer me a full athletic scholarship in the sport of football as a QB," Makaula told Scout. "I received the letter on Saturday June 7, 2008 confirming the offer."

Makaula was one of the steadier performers at the recent PIAA combine. He measured in at 6-foot, 2.125 and 224 pounds. He ran a 4.78 40, 12.22 60-yard shuttle, 4.19 20-yard shuttle and 7.47 in the L-Drill. He jumped 36.5 inches in the vertical jump, 8'1" in the standing broad jump, and benched 185 pounds 17 times.
