Alabama DB Collects Four
"I have received offers from Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tulane and Central Florida," said Brian Jackson from Hoover, (Ala.). "Oklahoma State sent me my first offer before school was out. Oregon came through after school. Central Florida offered in the spring, and Tulane offered last week." "Mississippi State and Auburn are showing interest. I am going to Auburn's camp this weekend. I don't really have any favorites. I want to keep myself open. I want to have my options. I would like to start hearing more from Alabama and Florida. I would like to see some stuff from those schools and Texas as well." The 5-foot-10, 190-pound safety took an unofficial visit to UCF a couple of weeks ago. "When I went down there the place was amazing," Jackson explained. "I haven't heard too much about them. It was completely different form any college I have been to. The facilities are new. Everything is cool. They left a good impression on me." "I only stayed for about an hour and a half. We toured the school and a lot of the athletic complexes. We toured the dorm rooms. It was nice down there. Really and truly it felt like a huge vacation spot. All the places to hang out at are right down the street." "I met the linebackers' coach [Geoff Collins] down there. He recruits our area. I met another assistant coach. He was showing me around the place. Coach Collins is cool. He is a funny guy. He is laid back. He is a guy I feel like I could hang out with." Jackson attended camp in Starkville Saturday and talked about the performance he showcased for the Mississippi State coaches. "The camp was a lot of fun when I went down there," he stated. "I think I did pretty good. I know I enjoyed the 7-on-7. I would say I was one of the top performers. I talked to coach Cheese [Charlie Harbinson] a lot. He talked to my coach quite a bit. He said I had some of the best footwork and best back pedal of any of the defensive backs there." Jackson recorded 51 tackles, four tackles for loss and one interception in 2007. "I would say one thing I make sure I have is a lot of speed," Jackson said of his strengths. "I take pride in getting to the ball fast. Another strength is my ball skills. I zero in on wherever the ball goes. One thing I am trying to improve is maybe my speed turn."
