Adam Hall, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound four-star wide receiver/safety from Palo Verde Magnet High School in Tucson, Ariz., finished his junior season with 30 catches for 950 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, he had 115 tackles and three interceptions (all for scores). His team finished the year at 7-4.
"I'm a really physical wide receiver," Hall said. "I like to hit and I use my size to my advantage. I can overpower a lot of people. I'm always blocking in front of the ball as a wide receiver and on defense I never stop going. I'm in on every play on defense."
Despite Hall's physical gifts, he says he likes to think of himself as a student of the game. "I love studying the game and reading plays," he said. "I’m like a coach on the field and like studying plays and formations."
Because of his height, Hall says he'd like to improve his agility and movement. "I'm tall, so I'm really trying to work on my feet," he said. "I'm also working on my shoulder height when I go in and out of blocks."
He says he benches 285-pounds and has a 35-inch vertical jump.
Hall, ranked as the No. 24 wide receiver in the country by Scout.com, says he has over 15 scholarship offers. He says he now favors USC slightly over Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Oregon State. "But the main four I like are USC, Arizona, Arizona State and Oregon," he emphasized.
All of his favorites have offered, except for the Trojans. He plans on attending the USC camp on June 25 and hopes to come away with an offer. "They told me they want to offer me, but want to make sure that I can meet with the coaches and come to the camp first," he said.
"I've been getting a lot of mail from them recently and they seem very interested," Hall said.
Hall admits that growing up he followed USC and rival Notre Dame. "USC was always on TV and I love the tradition that is instilled in their program," he said. "It's a classy program that cares about tradition. They are part of history and that kind of stuff is important to them.
"I also really love their fight song," he said. "That's something I remember from being a kid and just getting excited when I would hear the USC fight song or the Notre Dame fight song or the Ohio State fight song. They stick with you."
"Notre Dame is great too, but they aren't really recruiting me," Hall said. "I like their rivalry with USC and all their history and tradition too."
Another school that Hall watched a lot growing up was local favorite Arizona. "I live in Tucson and it's only like 15 minutes away," he said. "But the distance isn't really a factor. Neither is weather. I think it's pretty easy to adapt to wherever you live.
"The players there seem really close and they are like a big family over there," Hall said. "Right now they are climbing a hill and I hope they can get over it and do well next season. They have a lot of potential."
Both of Hall's parents are Wildcat alumni. In fact, Hall's dad, James E. Hall, played wide receiver for the Wildcats. "He just wants me to be comfortable," he said. "He said I need to see through what the coaches say and to ask a lot of questions and not just accept what they tell me."
Although she attended Arizona, Hall's mom now lives in Southern California. "She really likes Arizona a lot," he said. "But she's excited about the possibility of me coming to California."
Hall already attended the Wildcats camp on June 8.
Despite being from Tucson, Hall is also considering in-state rival Arizona State. "The coaches there seem real good and unique," Hall said. "They really work hard on and off the field. Because it's so hot there they do a lot of learning about football and really study the game.
"They are building some new indoor facilities, so that'll help," he said. "I really like the campus and how everything is close together. The dorms are right across the street from the stadium and all the football facilities are within a small radius."
While he doesn't plan on attending any other camps this summer, he does plan to take a few unofficial visits. "I'm definitely going to visit Oregon this summer," Hall said. "I like the area a lot. I've never been to the school, but I have some family up there and it seems real nice, but I'm not into the rain."
While in Oregon, Hall says he'll try to visit Oregon State and perhaps Washington or Washington State as well.
"I really like the Pac-10," he said. "I'm mainly looking at the Pac-10 schools.
"It seems like all the schools I like pretty much have everything I'm looking for," Hall said. "I think I might come up with a list of things that I'm not looking for instead of things that I am. Things on that list would be teams with bad team chemistry or having problems or not being stable. I think it might be easier to narrow things down that way.
"I'm pretty sure I'll go through the whole process," Hall said. "I'd like to play in the U.S Army All-America game and if I could, I'd like to make my announcement during the game."
Hall also plays basketball and competes in track. He's a shooting guard who averaged 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals per game.
He also runs the 110m hurdles with a personal best of 14-4. He also competes in the triple jump (47-5), high jump (6-5) and the long jump (22-6). "I may try and do football and track," he said. "It just depends if I feel like I can carry the load."
He reports a 2.7 core GPA and took the ACT on June 14.
