There are a number of great prospects in Pennsylvania for the class of 2010 including Mike Hull and Paul Jones. While we are still uncertain of who will start out with the top spot, Jones recent camp performances have really opened our eyes. He may be the best and most complete quarterback prospect to come out of the WPIAL in a long time.
Yes, I know there have been plenty of good ones such as Anthony Morelli and Terrelle Pryor among others, but Jones appears to be the total package. He is 6-foot-3 and right around 215 pounds. His mechanics are as good as you will see from a young player. His arm strength is above average and he is very accurate. He is very poised and shows great leadership. What I really like about him is you can see the passion for the game. He looks like a kid who just loves to play the game. If you spend enough time around football you get a feeling around the truly great players that this is a special player. Jones has that aura about him. Morelli has a cannon for an arm and he had a decent career at Penn State, but he did not have the intangibles that Jones has. Jones is not as fleet of foot as Pryor, but his mechanics are way ahead of where Pryor was as a junior or even where Pryor is right now.
Penn State and Pittsburgh are hot after Jones right now and we’d expect that those two schools will factor in his decision, but he will have plenty of offers to choose from come Sept. 1
