Saugus (Calif.) running back Ryan Zirbel, one of the Southland's top running backs the past two seasons, finally landed his first offer.
According to his father, John, Zirbel was offered by Jerry Glanville and Portland State.
Zirbel was named the Foothill League Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and First Team all-Los Angeles Daily News as a junior. He finished 7th in the state in rushing with 2,289 and 38 touchdowns and was the second leading rusher amongst juniors. Zirbel earned all-CIF honors and all-SCV selection and was named all-state underclass by GoldenStatePreps.com.
As a sophomore for Saugus, Zirbel rushed for 1,257 yards and 16 touchdowns and was named all-state sophomore team and all SCV First Team.
