Dre Whittle rushed for over 1,700 yards last season and some college recruiters have taken notice. Surprisingly, the schools closest to home appear to be keeping the explosive Whittle at arm's length.

"I am not hearing much at all from the in-state schools," said Dre. "I sent them all my tape and I sent them my information. I am going to USM's camp on the 18th, so I will see what they have to say. I would really like to stay in state if I could."

Three out of state schools have been showing Dre a high level of interest.

"I have an offer from Harding. They are in Division Two," said Whittle. "USA (South Alabama) has been talking with me and Rice wants me to come meet with them on the 17th. I am going over there and meet with their running backs coach."

The 5-8, 165 pounder believes he has just the right blend of power and speed.

"I think the best thing about me is my vision," explained Dre. "I am always looking to cutback and make a big play."

The future Exercise Science major believes in the right offense he could be a solid contributor.

"I am looking at a lot of schools that are talking about running the spread," said Whittle. "That's a good offense. I think I could make plays."
