Sacramento (Calif.) Inderkum cornerback Rashad Adams (5-10, 165), earned the highest praise from any defensive back at the Oakland UnderArmour/Scout.com Combine last month from secondary coach Don Cox.
Cox raved about Adams’ footwork and tenacity, and Adams is hoping a good spring will turn some early interest into offers.
“I’ve been hearing from Washington State, Boise State, Colorado, Fresno State and Nevada, all as a corner,” said Adams. “I think Nevada could be the closest to offering me. I’m also hearing some from Oregon and Oregon State and have interest in them.”
Adams said as his highlight tape starts making the rounds, he anticipates more interest in him to materialize.
“When schools get my tape and film, they’ll probably get serious about me,” said Adams.
Adams said his top five schools included Fresno State, Boise State, Washington State, Oregon State and Oregon.
“I want to take some trips and check out the schools,” said Adams. “It doesn’t really matter to me where I go (location-wise), I just want to get a good education. The school I go to has to have a good major. And I want to have a good feeling being on the campus. And the football program is important too.”
Adams earned all-combine honors at the Oakland Combine, one of many he’s done this spring and summer, which also included the Nike Combine, the FBU Camp, the Fresno State Camp and the Cal Camp.
He’s coming off a season in which he had 46 tackles, three interceptions, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and three touchdowns.
Academically, he has a 2.2 GPA and scored a 780 on the two-part portion of the SAT.
