Alex Logan the 6-foot-2, 195-pound three-star safety from Mullen High School in Denver, Colo., says he now has a total of 13 scholarship offers and denies any favorites.
"I don't have any favorites yet," Logan said. "I'll narrow it down right before the season. I want a program with good academics and I'd like to play for good coaches on a team that is heading in the right direction.
"Also I want to make sure I like the area and feel at home," he said. "I really want to weigh all my options and take some visits."
The only schools that Logan has actually visited thus far are Colorado and Washington and both have offered. "Colorado is only about 45 minutes away, but distance isn't really a factor," he stated. "My parents said I can go out-of-state, so that's not an issue.
"I really like the defensive back coach Greg Brown (at Colorado)," Logan said. "He's a real genuine person and has coached some of the best players in the NFL. He knows what he's doing and says that he likes my size and how I don't shy away from contact."
Logan's brother, Alvin Logan, is a wide receiver for Washington. "Seattle is a fun place," he said. "My brother loves it there and he thinks that coach Tyrone Willingham is one of the best coaches he's ever seen. We've definitely talked about playing together and that would be cool, but he told me not to make my decision because of him."
As appealing as playing on the same team with his brother sounds, Logan asserts that playing against him would be fun as well. "I've never really played against him and I think that would be really cool to go up against him," he said. "It would be fun."
Logan also has offers from Nebraska, Arizona State, Washington State, San Diego State, Wyoming, Texas Tech, Boise State, Northwestern, Vanderbilt and California.
"I haven't been to Cal yet, but I'm definitely interested in them," he said. "I really like the coaches. They said they really liked my tape and were trying to get me to come to their camp, but I couldn't make it.
"They were also recruiting my teammate (tight end) Ryan Hewitt and that would have been cool to go to the same school together, but he committed to Stanford already," he said.
Another school that Logan is contemplating taking an official visit to is Nebraska. "I really like the new coaches and what they are doing there," he said. "I like how they are bringing back the black shirts and how they are focusing on having a punishing defense. I think they'll bring Nebraska back to being a national power soon."
Logan says he plans on following all of these teams closely this season, but admits he's the most curious about Washington. "I really want to see how Jake Locker does," he said. "He's a really talented quarterback and I think he'll have a good season."
Although Logan still denies a leader, he says he'd like to make a decision midway through his senior season. "I'll probably only take about three visits before I decide," he said.
Logan wants to major in business and reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 25 ACT.
