Smith Up to Three Offers
Westlake High School is going to be a great place to watch high school football this fall as the speedy Devon Smith will surely be making defenders look silly in the open field. The 5-foot-7, 150-pound wide receiver was already holding an offer from Akron, but just picked up two more from Eastern Michigan and Temple. "I went and camped at Temple and it was really nice there," Smith said. "They worked me one on one with a lot of the quarterbacks and said they really like my speed and heart. That was the biggest thing they kept bringing up was my heart for such a little guy." "I thought the campus was nice and got to walk around the whole thing," Smith added. "There seems like there is a lot to do there in Philly which is cool. I also think I could make an early impact there which the coaches agreed with, especially Coach Al Golden. I loved the staff and they keep sending me handwritten letters and emails which means a lot to me." "I don't know a whole lot about Eastern Michigan, but I've known Coach (Jim) O'Neil since my sophomore year," Smith explained. "I know they liked to spread things out and that's the type of offense I want to work out of so I can go in motion and get out in space to make plays." Boston College, North Carolina State and Penn State are all still in constant contact with Smith, who will be sending out some senior highlights as soon as possible this season.
