Alabama DE high on Ole Miss

Mississippi Scout

Coach Carl Jackson from Lillie B Williamson has informed us that one of his star defensive ends is leaning heavily towards Ole Miss.

"Jawarren Hector came to me yesterday and told me that he was ready to make a move and commit to Ole Miss," added Coach Carl Jackson."

"Jawarren would be the third kid of off our squad commit to an SEC program. DE Terrence Coleman and WR LaVoyd James committed to Auburn. Terrence is Antonio Coleman's nephew. We also have another kid that Ole Miss has offered in WR Mujahid Assad. The thing about Assad is that he is not a kid that has gone to many camps, like Jawarren. Assad is a track guy, so he has not been to many camps. He won the Regional meet and is going to the Nationals next week, which puts him out of the Alabama camp. Ole Miss has offered all four of those guys. They have really come after my players hard. They have done a good job."

Who all is recruiting Jawarren?

"Ole Miss and Marshall are the main ones. Citadel also offered him because of how high he scored on the ACT test (20)."

Why the lack of recruiting attention?

"With Jawarren, he did not go to many camps. Then you have him playing on the opposite end as Terrence Coleman. Do not get me wrong, Hector is our most intelligent defensive end, but his lack of size has been an issue with a lot of schools. He is 6' 1", 205 now, and we moved him to Will LB. He made a smooth transition to it and has excelled because of his football IQ. Jawarren sees the game differently than most people, and he thinks a lot faster than the other kids. But I think his size is the biggest concern. I think his film is as good as Terrence's, but when you talk about a DE at 200 pounds, you know people are going to question you."

Which position does the Lillie head coach see Jawarren on the next level?

"I think LB will be it. I do not know about Ole Miss' scheme, but I think they run a 4-3. I think Sam LB, or if he puts on a little weight, he could play weakside end. But from the day he hits campus, I think he can make an impact at LB. He is a little different than Antonio Coleman. Antonio left here at 215 and has been playing at 250 for Auburn the last two years. Antonio and Jawarren have a lot in common. They both played end for me, and they both played basketball at a high level. Jawarren is a heck of a basketball player for our school. He has been the star on the hoop's team since he got here."

What were Hector's stats as a junior?

"He had between 10 - 12 sacks and over 80 tackles."

Why is Jawarren so high on Ole Miss?

"I think he likes the style of play, and he is real excited about Coach Nutt coming in. He talked about the chance to be another Patrick Willis, and he did not want to go too far from home. I also think Coach Dickerson has done a real good job with Jawarren. Coach Dickerson did not go on second hand information from rankings, he wanted to see my players upfront and came to a couple of our practices. I know Ole Miss got a commitment from Mike Thomas from another school in Mobile. I think Coach Dickerson is taking advantage of all of the talent we have down here. A lot of our kids from this area do not have the money to go to all of these camps, so they do not get recognized. But that does not mean they do not have the talent. Coach Dickerson has done a good job at evaluating these guys. I know I would put Hector against any 4 or 5 star player and he would more than hold his on."
