Last year the Philadelphia Catholic League sent a few quarterbacks to play at the next level and this year will be no different as players like Luke Wischnowski are already holding scholarship offers to go onto further education as a scholar-athlete. The Radnor, Pa., product updated us recently by email to let us know how his summer has been going.
Luke Wischnowski
, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback from Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pa., is still holding an offer from
Army
, however he was out on the camp trail this summer to show coaches at all different levels that he could be their future behind center as well.
“I’ve been to numerous camps this summer and am getting ready to wrap up the camp season and gear up for my senior year,” Wischnowski said. “Thus far, I’ve attended camps at Lafayette,
Villanova
,
Temple
, Delaware, Brown and Princeton and also attended junior day at Army. This was my second trip to Army and I left there feeling even better about it than the first visit.”
“There were about 100 college coaches in attendance at Lafayette and I gained a lot of exposure after performing well before Patriot League schools such as Lafayette, Lehigh and Bucknell, as well as Army,” Wischnowski explained. “I also received a lot of interest from some strong Division III programs as well. On July 26th I will be going to Bucknell for prospect day which will wrap up my camp season.”
“I’ve also been invited to prospect days this month at
Akron
, Cornell, Lehigh, Stone Brook and
Massachusetts
, but will be unable to attend because of vacations. I plan on making several official visits this fall.”
The signal caller does have a slight favorite at this point.
“Army is probably my number one right now, but I’m keeping all of my options open,” Wischnowski stated. “I feel pretty satisfied because I was able to perform very well this summer in front of a ton of coaches. I also feel that I have gotten much stronger from my junior year physically as I have put on about 15 pounds in the weight room and have also worked on my mechanics. I’m just taking my time in the recruiting process and do not have a time frame for my decision.”
As a junior, Wischnowski completed 68 of 122 passes for 1200 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also carried the ball 153 times for 730 yards and nine touchdowns. He was voted second-team All-League, honorable mention All-County, honorable mention All-City and first-team All Main-Line.
He reports a 4.0 core GPA and scored a 1930 on his three-part SAT.
