Makainai nets local offer

Scout.com learned Monday afternoon that Chauncey Makainai, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive guard prospect from Kailua, Hawai'i, was offered by Hawai'i after UH's Speed and Quickness Camp on the UH-Manoa campus. Makainai told Scout in May that he had an offer from the Warriors, and that offer was made official after the camp.

Makainai is currently ranked by Scout.com as the 88th-best guard prospect in the country, as well as the No. 60 player in the Northwest regardless of position. Michigan State, Idaho, Boise State, Nebraska, Utah and Washington are the other schools that came by during the May evaluation period and expressed interest in Makainai.
