North Caldwell, N.J., native Tom Bianchi still holds an offer from Army and has been learning more about them to get a feel for the obligation that goes along with playing for the Black Knights. He has also been camping at a number of other schools and is hoping the exposure brings him some other choices to have to choose from when decision time draws near.

Strong side linebacker Tom Bianchi was offered by Army in the beginning of May and while he hasn’t picked up another offer since then things haven’t necessarily been going too bad for the 6-foot-3, 230-pound athlete from West Essex High School. Bianchi recently talked to us about his summer recruiting activity and it sounds as though things are headed in the right direction.

“I camped at Hofstra, Villanova, Temple, Boston College and Connecticut and really liked every school,” Bianchi stated. “I also got to go to West Point and learn more about what the Army had to offer which was important for me. I got a great tour of the campus, got to meet a lot of the coaches and I think going for that visit really opened my eyes a bit to the opportunity they offer. There is a great atmosphere on campus there and I got a bit more than I bargained for going into the visit which was great.”

“My favorite camp was definitely Boston College because the school just really appeals to me in every way,” Bianchi explained. “They told me that they liked me as a prospect, but wanted to see the first few games from my senior year before telling me where I stand. There were also a lot of coaches from very good Division I-AA programs there that liked what I did at the camp.”

“While BC was my favorite, Temple and Connecticut went really well too. Temple was a really long camp and they worked us very hard, but that’s what you expect. I thought that the coaching staff there did things right and were good men. At Connecticut they actually had me work out at linebacker, tight end and defensive end which was a change and it allowed me to get in a ton of reps. They told me to send up my first two games from my senior season as well.”

At this point Bianchi is planning on taking his time with his decision, so don’t expect anything to happen on the commitment front until after his senior year.
