Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley fullback Cole Huntley has hit a plethora of camps this summer, attending ones at Washington, Stanford, UC Davis, Boston College and Brown.
“Coach (Tim) Lappano, the offensive coordinator at Washington, invited me to their camp. I had a great time at their camp and several coaches worked out with me one-on-one. Coach Lappano said they really like my physicality and athleticism and he really wants me at Washington. I had a chance to see their facilities, meet several coaches and tour the campus and it was awesome. Coach Lappano said I was their #1 fullback recruit and he thought I could help the Huskies win some games.”
Prior to the visit to Washington, Stanford and Boston College had been showing the most interest in him.
Coach Ron Lynn has come by San Ramon Valley HS several times to watch me workout and I attended Stanford's summer camp and met with several Stanford coaches. I was invited by Coach Siravo to Boston College’s one day "Top Prospect" camp in June and had a great time. I was one of sixteen players in the top prospect section of BC’s camp on June 18 and there were over 40 coaches from other colleges at the BC camp.
Huntley may also be visiting two more Pac-10 schools in the future.
“I may take an unofficial visit to Oregon or Arizona later this summer. Coach Kelly at Oregon recently asked for my transcripts and highlight DVD,” said Huntley.
Huntley is also a gifted rugby player, and he’ll have a chance to show his stuff at Cal’s camp.
“I'm attending Cal's rugby camp in between my high school camp this week. I've meet players from all over the world at this camp. Cal's coaches, Coach Clark, Coach Billups and Coach Figone are great and I'm having a good time,” said Huntley. “My goal is to narrow down which colleges seem like at good fit this summer. Right right now I know I like and have offers from Cal and UCLA for rugby and positive experiences and strong interest from Washington, Stanford, Boston College and UC Davis for football.”
Huntley has a 3.3 GPA and scored a 1500 on the SAT.
As a junior, Huntley played fullback and slotback and was the lead blocker for San Ramon Valley HS in Danville. He averaged over 5.5 yards a carry and scored four touchdowns in the playoffs, with a pair in the CIF-NCS 3A title game.
