One of the players who impressed us this spring at the Oakland UnderArmour/Scout.com Combine was Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic receiver James Orth.
Orth helped the Pirates to the CIF State D-III title game when he caught 27 passes for 503 yards and four touchdowns and had 17 carries for 283 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Orth had 44 tackles and four picks, one which he returned for a touchdown.
At the Oakland Combine, he showed great route-running, hands and toughness, coming back from a dislocated finger to pop it back into place, and have a great day in the 1-on-1s. He ended up being named to the all-combine team and was one of the few considered for MVP honors.
Orth boasts an offer from San Jose State and is hearing from a host of other schools.
Here he is in action from his junior season.
