One of the offensive linemen to watch for the Class of 2010 in New Jersey is Danny Foose, a mammoth of a young man who is hearing from a small group of schools already and has the size and strength at this point that most seniors do. Foose took us through his summer activity on Wednesday and also talked about which schools he likes.

Danny Foose stands in a 6-foot-6, 305 pounds, but he is playing offensive guard at Paramus Catholic High School this year because they have a 6-foot-8 senior at tackle. Schools will probably end up recruiting him to play both positions by the time he’s allowed to receive scholarships and we talked to him recently about who those schools could be.

“Right now the main four schools I hear from are Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Temple,” Foose said. “I camped at two of them this summer and Bobby Cervino (father of Chaz Cervino) talked to the Syracuse staff about me and they want me to get up for a game this year. I also like USC a lot and hope I eventually start hearing from them too.”

“Coach Kyle Flood from Rutgers came in to see me both my freshman and sophomore years and is a guy that I like a lot,” Foose explained. “In fact, I like the entire coaching staff and got along with them really well at camp. I just think their philosophies on football are right on point and Rutgers is also close to home.”

“The defensive backs coach from Pittsburgh heard about me through a friend and got in contact with me as well. I was invited to their camp and really wanted to go, but my team was camping at Temple that same weekend, so I was unable to make it. I don’t know much about them, but I’d love to get out there and catch a game this season to learn more.”

“Like I said, I did camp with my team at Temple and that seemed to go really well, especially with the impression I made on the staff,” Foose offered. “They couldn’t believe I was only going into my junior year and spent a lot of time with me. They told me they would be talking to my coach after the camp, so that was promising.”

With another year of lifting and growth, Foose could turn into one of the largest offensive linemen in the Northeast for the next class.
