California is home to the top prospect in the country, Santa Ana Mater Dei's
Matt Barkley, the top quarterback in the land. And USC already has a
commitment from him, along with six others from the state's top 12 and a dozen
prospects in all from California.
Following Barkley is Cierre Wood, the Notre Dame commit at running back from
Oxnard Santa Clara then Cliff Harris, Central California's top prospect and the
nation's premier cornerback, from Edison HS in Fresno. USC has verbals
from the next four prospects in linebacker Vontaze Burfict from Corona
Centennial, Agoura offensive tackle Kevin Graf, Carson tight end Morrell Presley
and Fresno Edison safety T.J. McDonald.
UCLA is next with six commits from the Golden State, followed by Stanford with
four and California with three.
