Two weeks ago, wide receiver Neal Barlow trimmed his list of possible schools to Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas as he wanted to make his commitment before the start of his senior season. After few more visits and a lot deliberation with his parents, Barlow was ready to make the call.
"I committed to Kansas last night" says the 6-6 200 pound wideout.
Barlow had previously said that his decision would come down to something little because his final three school (Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas) had everything he was looking for; spread offense, nice facilities, and quality coaches.
"I had a gut feeling. Liked the coaches, the people, and the facilities everywhere I went. It wasn't like Missouri or Arkansas didn't have the things Kansas had. I just had a gut feeling that Kansas would be a better fit for me.
"I told Coach (David) Beaty and then Coach (Mark) Mangino," said Barlow. "They were excited for me. They congratulated me and everything. I was pumped. I am excited about my commitment. It is also a relief because I can focus on my season and not have to worry about off the field issues.
Barlow is solid in his commitment and plans on visiting Lawrence for an official visit.
"I'm definitely going to take my official [visit] but I don't know when. I am going to have to wait until my basketball schedule comes out so that I can schedule around it."
Neal Barlow is the Jayhawks thirteenth commitment of the "09 class.
