More
Kendrick is no stranger to the game of football, as several of his family members have played on the collegiate level.
"My cousins, Eddie Strong and
Chris Strong
, played at Ole Miss," added
Kendrick Strong
. "I also have a little brother, Mario Strong, who is going into 9th grade. He is going to be a good one too."
The 6' 2", 250 pound defensive end had 62 tackles and 4 sacks playing opposite of
Terrance Pope
.
Kendrick Strong
"It was a good learning experience playing with so many great players. Our whole defensive line could play on the D1 level. We love to compete against one another but it makes us better. There is no jealousy or anything like that because of it."
The Tiger's head coach believes somebody is missing the boat if they pass on the young man.
"Kendrick is the strongest player we have had here since I have been at South Panola. He benched 225 twenty seven times in the Spring. You watch the NFL combine and you will see a lot of the linemen entering the draft who can not do what Strong is doing at 16 years old. He has great strength and quickness. He has the first step you are looking for on the D1 level."
Which colleges are showing Strong the most interest?
"Auburn and La Tech came over here in the Spring and talked to me. They said they were going to be following me during my senior season," stated Strong
Strong is also interested in a couple more schools.
"I grew up a Tennessee Vol fan. I like their defense and how their defensive coordinator goes in there and mixes up their plays. They play real aggressive. I like their defense. And Memphis has a pretty good team. They use to have a real good running back. They are only a couple of hours from the house too."
Who is closest to offering?
"I would say Auburn because they are sending me the most letters, and they just committed a teammate of mine,
David Conner
."
Did Kendrick get to attend any camps this summer?
"I went to Ole Miss' senior camp. They said they liked what they saw, and that they were going to be watching me my senior year too. I had some kins who played at Ole Miss so that would be great if I could carry on the tradition. I don't care where I go, really. I just want a full ride and a chance to play early."
