Another school moving in for LB
"We started two-a-days and they're going well," Conor O'Neill said. "Our defense looks good. We're very fast and athletic." O'Neill, 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, helped lead his team to the Class 5A state title last season. What are the chances of repeating? "Our offense should be very good because we didn't lose many guys," he said. "Jeremiah Harden and Phil (Pierre-Louis) are gone but everyone else is pretty much back. It's gonna be up to the defense early on though because we only have two or three starters coming back. Our goal is to just take things one game at a time." The talented linebacker prospect was able to take in a few camps this summer and he talked about those experiences. "I went to Auburn's camp and definitely liked it a lot," he said. "I went to Florida's Friday Night Lights and had fun. I ran a 4.5 out there so that was good." On the recruiting front, O'Neill has been favoring three schools for awhile now but it's time to add another one into the mix. "I still like Auburn, Clemson, and Wisconsin a lot," he said. "I plan on taking visits to those three schools. I'm also starting to think about Florida State. I had a chance to talk to Coach Amato and he said they were real interested. He thought they had offered but I haven't gotten the letter in the mail yet. He was saying that they like me and will try to keep me in-state. They'd definitely be one of the top schools on my list because they have a lot of tradition up there." O'Neill is in the process of setting up some official visits right now. "I have Auburn set for September 19th," he said. "I'm talking to Wisconsin about going up on October 4th when they play Ohio State so that would be a great atmosphere to be in. I haven't set a date with Clemson or Florida State yet." O'Neill talked about some of the things he'll be looking for when it comes time to make a decision. "It'll definitely be based on how my official visits go," he said. "I wanna get a good vibe. There's a lot to like about each of these schools so I gotta see how my visits go. Academics will play a big part and so will the tradition of the school. Playing time would be nice but that'll come."
