Jerrion Johnson profile
"He committed yesterday," said Perry Central Coach Brian Ford. "He didn't have a firm offer, but Mississippi State and Vanderbilt were both real interested in him."
Coach Ford is quick to heap praise on Jerrion and his ability.
"He's been outstanding," said Ford. "He has a lot of speed, good hands and strength. He just has it all."
Jerrion plays on both sides of the ball at the prep level and he could get looks at both defensive back and receiver in college.
"They are looking at him as a corner, but he could end up at receiver," said Ford. "He could easily put on about ten pounds of muscle and play safety. I really expect him to be on the defensive side of the ball."
Johnson's commitment is the ninth for Coach Larry Fedora and the Golden Eagles. Jerrion is the sixth in-state prospect to tab Southern Miss as their college destination.
