A member of Coach Tommy Tuberville's Tigers is switching positions…
In Touch: Vann Calhoun
In Focus: Vann Calhoun Rome High School Wolves Vann Calhoun is a talented LB who is as productive as you will find in the state of GA. He has been starting since he was a sophomore and really came into his own last year when he led his team in tackles (135), as well as to the State AAAA Quarterfinals. He is a bit undersized but don't let that mislead you. Calhoun can flat out play and is often regarded as the best football player on the field. Scout.com caught up with him to get an update on the season and recruiting. BH: How is Fall practice going? VC: Right now it's going pretty good. We have a few things to work out, but other than that, things have been good. Calhoun Has His Eyes on the Prize BH: Did you guys have a good summer? VC: Yeah, we had most everybody make their workouts. There were a few slackers, but most everybody made them. We also had new Iron Man winners. BH: How is recruiting going? VC: Uh, right now it's kind of slow, so I guess I'll wait until the season is over before I start hearing anything. VMI has been in contact, but that's it so far. BH: Do you think the lack of attention has anything to do with your size and the position you play? VC: I think that's the only thing that's holding people back. BH: Do you anticipate a position change? VC: Yeah, I'll probably end up having to play corner or safety, but that's OK. BH: Tell me what you bring to a team...In other words, why you? VC: I bring leadership to a team, and I think I get everybody else to play hard. It's a pet peeve of mine when people start slacking off. BH: Predictions for this year? VC: I think we're going to surprise some people this year. If Calhoun is on the field, I won't be one of them. Burke Hayes is the Southeastern Regional Manager for Football Recruiting at Scout.
