In the state of Washington, the name Trufant is synonymous with football. Marcus Trufant went from Wilson High School in Tacoma to Washington State and then to the Seattle Seahawks. Isaiah Trufant went from Wilson to Eastern Washington and is now playing Arena ball for the Arizona Rattlers.

And now the torch has been passed to the youngest Trufant - Desmond. And as is the case with many families, the older brothers paved the way for the kind of football attention Desmond is receiving right now. "Obviously it helps because his (Marcus') name is out there, so when they see my name they think I must be good too," Desmond told Scout.com Sunday night. "So it helps."

But make no mistake; Desmond is deserving. He has the name, but he also has the game. "I'm kind of laid back, but I think I might get a little more excited than them at times," he said when comparing himself to his brothers. "I might do a little more talking than them, I might be a little more aggressive."

At 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, Trufant was named the Defensive MVP of the Narrows League as a junior. Even though he hasn't run a timed 40 this year, he think he runs roughly in the 4.5 range. "They like how I make the big plays and how I can turn a game around for my team," Trufant said when asked about feedback he's been getting from college coaches in the recruiting process. "They like my technique, my footwork, my hips and my jumping ability and those type of things."

Oregon, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Colorado and Idaho have offered Trufant a scholarship. Nearly all are recruiting him at corner, although some have talked about receiver too. "I wouldn't mind playing offense, but I really want to be a corner," he said.

Trufant added that he hasen't seen most of the schools and their coaches, so he keeping the recruiting process very open at this point and wants to take some official visits before deciding. "If it happens that I find a school in the middle of the season, I'll make a decision then," he said. "If not, I'll wait until after the season."

With both Marcus and Isaiah playing their college ball in-state, does that mean much for Desmond? "It plays a part, but location isn't a problem to me," he said. "I want to make my own statement, but I'm not saying I wouldn't go to that school or any school in Washington. I just want to try and find the best place for me."

So what will Trufant be looking for when it comes down to finding that right fit in college? "I need to really vibe with the position coach and see what type of guy he is," he said. "And I need to meet some of the players and see what they have to say about the school. They are living it, so they can tell me how it is. That's it, really."

At this point, Trufant said he has met the position coaches from Oregon and Washington State, and that's it.

And regardless of where he goes, Desmond knows this brothers will be there to help him out in any way they can. "They are a pretty big part of my life," he said.
