2010 First Look: Jerrel Gandy
Jerrel Gandy profile At 5-11, 210 Gandy packs a pretty big punch when he and opposing ball carriers collide. Jerrel could play weakside linebacker or make the move to the secondary on the college level. "I run to the ball well," said Gandy. "I think I am a pretty good blitzer too. I think I'll probably play linebacker in college, but I could play safety. I have good footwork and I can cover." Jerrel is the first cousin of former Auburn Tiger Steve Gandy who also played at Wayne County. It should come as no surprise that the Tigers are one of the schools the hard hitting linebacker has interest in. "I am really interested in Auburn," said Gandy. "I like them, LSU, Georgia and I like Mississippi State. I am going to try to go some games this fall. I would really like to go to one over at Auburn." The chance to get an education and win big are two key components in Gandy's decision making process. "I want to see how the academics are and I want to see the campus at each school," said Jerrel. "I want to play for a winning team that has a lot of tradition." Decision time is still a good ways off for Gandy. He is now focused on his junior season. Jerrell believes Wayne County has a great chance to bring him another state title. "I feel good about the season," said Gandy. "I think we have a good chance to getting to state. I really think we can win it all."
