Rogers Looks to Pull the Shocker
Anthony Rogers profile "The pep rally is going to be on point," said Rogers. "All week everybody has been talking about the game. Everybody keeps asking us in the hallway if we're ready." Ready Rogers and his teammates must be because the closest thing to a dynasty in 6A Arkansas football, Texarkana, will populate the opposite sideline this Friday night. "We play Texarkana this week and I can't wait," said Anthony. "They have won the state championship two years in a row and they have beaten us five years in a row. I am so pumped up, I just don't know what to say. It's going to be a good game. I just can't wait for it." College coaches could begin calling senior prospects earlier this week and Anthony has only heard from the school he committed to, Mississippi State. "I talked to Coach Grimes on Tuesday," said Rogers. "He wanted to wish me luck this season and he told me to be looking for them on TV this year. Things are going real good with Mississippi State. Everything is still real solid. Things are still tight." With his college decision behind him, Rogers is free to turn his full attention towards his senior season. "Right now my mind is on this football season," said Rogers. "My coaches are a lot harder on me this year now that I am a senior. They expect me to take my game to the next level. They are doing a good job preparing me for college." Anthony's high school coaches are not the only people at North Little Rock High treating him a little differently. "All down the hall all of the other students know who I am," said Rogers. "Even the students I have never met know my name and my nickname too. "My nickname is Tizzle. When I was in the seventh grade my basketball coach was handing out nicknames and he called me Ant-Tizzle. The Ant fell off, but everyone still calls me Tizzle."
