More on Fischer's Commitment

Chat with Tucson (Az.) Ironwood Ridge LB about his recent commitment

Yesterday three-star linebacker Jake Fischer from Tucson (Az.) Ironwood Ridge High decided he wanted to end his recruitment and committed the University of Arizona.

He tells Scout.com, "I did it before the game. I committed to Coach Nichol and Coach Kish. They were both excited and Kish have me a huge hug."

The proximity to home seemed to be a big factor in Fischer pulling the trigger, "In the end it was the right fit for me and it's nice to stay at home where there is such a good program." Fischer also had an offer from Colorado.

Fischer (5-11 235) has been a mainstay in the Nighthawks defense for going on three years now. He has manned the middle and done it spectacularly. This year he will be a three-year starter and he has been an all-region selection since his sophomore year. He is also one of the state's best shotputters, showing great explosion with a 50' + throw last year.

With kids committing and decommitting becoming more common, Fischer says that is not the case, "The verbal is pretty solid. I do not think I will have to take my other officials."

Here are highlights of the newest Cat in action:

Ironwood Ridge is currently 0-1, losing to Pinnacle 10-6 on Friday. Fischer and his teammates take on Goldwater (0-1) this week.
