DE Terrance Lloyd
6-3 215
Commitment Date: 9/9/2008
The Skinny:
DE Terrance Lloyd of Stratford HS in Houston, TX pulled the trigger on his Missouri offer earlier this week. He chose MU over offers from UCONN, Houston, Kentucky, and Texas A&M . The four star athlete is the nations 29th ranked DE prospect.
Strengths:
Speed/Athleticism- Lloyd is fast. He gets off the ball quickly and because of his speed he beats the block and gets pressure on the QB. He is very disruptive in the backfield. He is a very good Pass rushing DE.
Lateral Range- When pursing down the LOS, he covers a lot of ground and gets in on plays that most DEs can't. He is a weakside DE because he is not as physical in setting the edge on run but he has the ability to bend and make the play backside.
Size/Arm Length- Lloyd is built like a basketball player. He is long and lean with a wide wing span. He possesses the body you want in a DE. He also has room on his frame to add weight and not lose speed.
Weakness:
Change of Direction: He is good at getting to the QB however, when the QB feels his pressure and escapes, Lloyd has a hard time redirecting and making the play. He is easy to put a move on.
Overall:
Lloyd is an athlete. He is naturally gifted and his size, speed, and athleticism causes problems. He is raw in technique and doesn't use an array of different moves; primary bull rushing or speed rushing to beat his opponent. A summer of the weight room and technique focused training will work wonders. If that is not his focus, he will need a redshirt year. He has all the tools in the shed, they just need sharpened.
