"Our season got off to a good start," Jamal Reid said. "We won our first game 38-21. I had three catches, two touchdowns, and eight tackles on defense. I also return kicks but they kick away from me on kickoffs and I had a couple fair catches on punts." Reid, 6-feet and 175 pounds, has been a major recruiting prospect all year and with invites to attend both the Miami/Florida and USF/UCF games last Saturday, he decided to stay home. "I stayed home and watched them on TV," he said. "I enjoyed both of them. I really liked the Miami game. I thought they played real good on defense. The offense just needs to step up but the defense looked real good. It was a close game until Florida scored a few in the fourth quarter." Reid was watching that game closely as there's a good chance he'll be playing in that Hurricane defense next season. "I'm favoring Miami right now," he said. "I really like how they're playing defense and they're a young team that's gonna be real strong in the next few years. Because of their depth, I will have a chance to go in and compete for a job right away. They need corners and plus, I love how they're always sending players to the NFL. I haven't committed yet but I like Miami the most." The Hurricanes aren't the only school actively recruiting the talented senior. "Clemson's calling, Ole Miss, Indiana, Louisville, N.C. State, there have been a few of them calling and staying in touch," he said. "I'm not sure which ones I'll visit yet. I know I'll visit Miami but I don't have the date set for that yet." Inside the classroom, Reid claims a 2.9 core GPA and a 16 on the ACT.
