David Oku, the sterling 5-foot-10, 185-pound five-star running back from Carl Albert High School in Oklahoma City, Okla., has rushed for over 200 yards and four touchdowns in only two games. Carl Albert High School is 1-1 and plays Duncan High School on Sept. 19.
Oku, ranked as the No. 6 running back in the country by Scout.com, says he has over 30 scholarship offers.
Although he continues to deny a favorite, Oku says he has now narrowed down his choices to four finalists - Louisville, Tennessee, Nebraska and Michigan. All of his favorites have offered.
He has already visited Louisville on Aug. 30 and will be visiting Tennessee on Sept. 20 for the Florida game.
"Louisville was a good trip," Oku said. "I liked seeing the whole campus, the housing, the town…everything was nice.
"It's good program and they've got a good thing going," he said.
Oku says that the Cardinals are recruiting him the hardest. "They never stop," he said. "I talk to (running back) coach Tony Alford and he's great. We talk about everything. All kinds of stuff, but nothing big."
Another coach that Oku admits he likes is Tennessee head coach Philip Fulmer. "He's done a great job there," he said. "Tennessee is a good program and a good school."
Oku is a man of few words but he did say that the most important factor in his decision will be the offense. "I'm looking for a school that fits me," he said. "I want an offense that I like and fits my style. Other than that I really don't care about anything else."
So what kind of offense is Oku looking for? "I really like the west coast offense," he admitted. "I think that suits me the best. I'm actually not too big a fan of the spread offense though."
The spread is what new Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez has implemented in Ann Arbor, but that apparently hasn't hurt the Wolverines chances.
"They are getting better and better," he said of the Wolverines. "The coaches are real good and they'll be a top team again. I just really like their tradition and the great players they always have."
Another school that Oku thinks is up-and-coming is Nebraska. "I think they'll be great," he said. "They are playing well right now and I really like the offense."
No longer in Oku's top five is the program that he grew up following - Florida State. "I'm really not interested in them anymore," he said of the 'Noles. "I eliminated them. It's really all about these for schools now.
"I'll take my four visits for sure," he said. "But I'm not worrying about recruiting right now."
Oku reports a 2.4 core GPA and a 15 ACT, which he is retaking in October.
