Isaiah Newsome profile
"We all have a strong work ethic," said Newsome of his team. "On offense we just execute the plays and on defense we just knock 'em out."
Coach Steve Buckley and his staff have the Petal High family excited about the possibilities. Isaiah credits Coach Buckley's ability to relate to his players as one of the program's strengths.
"Coach Buckley is a real good coach," said the 6-0, 200 pounder. "He is not too strict on us. He is a hard working coach and he has a real good attitude towards us. I like playing for him."
Isaiah camped at Mississippi State and Southern Miss this summer. Those schools are two of several that are expressing interest in the talented running back.
"I am hearing from Stanford, Marshall, USM, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, ULM, Louisiana Tech and UAB," reported Newsome. "South Alabama called me about a week ago and they offered me. It felt good to get that. All my hard work is beginning to pay off."
Unofficial visits are on the agenda for later in the fall, but so far Isaiah has not toured any campuses or attended any college games. Despite the absence of the guided tours, Newsome knows what he is looking for.
"The main thing is I want a good education," said Isaiah. "I want to go to a University. I want to play for a good team. I might have to be redshirted my first year and I am okay with that. I just want to find the right place."
