Josh Robinson admits that he'd prefer to stay close to home in Florida yet says that won't be the deciding factor. "I'd rather not go too far," Robinson said. "But I will if I feel it's the best place for me. If I love Michigan when I visit them and think it's the best situation for me, then I'll go to Michigan." Robinson has an official visit scheduled to see Ann Arbor on Oct. 24

Josh Robinson the 5-foot-10, 180-pound three-star cornerback/wide receiver from Plantation, Fla., has 16 scholarship offers and said he has now narrowed his choices to five.

Robinson said he favors South Florida and Central Florida solidly over Michigan, West Virginia and Florida International. All of his favorites have offered as well as Clemson, Purdue, South Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana and Auburn, among others.

He attended the South Florida/Central Florida game on Sept. 6 and says he was impressed with both teams. "It was amazing," Robinson said of the game experience. "The fans are crazy and both teams fought hard all the way to the end.

"I liked that UCF showed up to play," he said.

The Knights are recruiting him the hardest and are only about three hours away from his house. He says they are recruiting him for both cornerback and wide receiver.

On Oct. 31, he'll be taking an official visit to Central Florida.

In-state rival South Florida is about four hours away and he says the Bulls are recruiting him strictly for cornerback. "They have a great up-and-coming program," Robinson said. "They have a real strong defensive front and they've got some good playmakers too."

Robinson admits that he'd prefer to stay close to home yet says that won't be the deciding factor. "I'd rather not go too far," he said. "But I will if I feel it's the best place for me. If I love Michigan when I visit them and think it's the best situation for me, then I'll go to Michigan."

He has an official visit scheduled to Ann Arbor for Oct. 24 when they take on in-state rival Michigan State. "I really like Michigan," Robinson said. "It's a big football program and I really want to see the campus and see what life is like there. I'm really looking forward to going up there.

"I think the team is getting better and coach Rich Rodriguez doesn't have his players yet, so it's going to take time," he said.

Robinson says the Wolverines are recruiting him for receiver.

Another school recruiting Robinson for offense is West Virginia. "I like the fast-type of offense they run," he said. "I think it would be a great opportunity to go in and play early and play for a top-ranked team."

While the Mountaineers are still in still in the mix, Robinson's clear favorites are Central Florida, South Florida and Michigan. "I was really impressed with USF and UCF," he said. "I've been to both places and feel very comfortable there.

"I like them both a lot and it'll be a tough choice," he said. "When I go to Michigan I'll see how I feel about them. If I really like it, it's going to be a three-way race."

Robinson, Scout.com's No. 55 cornerback, plans to announce his decision on Nov. 30 at his church (Hallandale Beach Church of Christ) as previously reported. "My church family is a backbone in my life," he said. "So I thought what better place to make my announcement?"

His team is currently 1-2, but Robinson has only played in one game due to a sprained MCL. He had three receptions for 83 yards and one touchdown. He's going to miss one more game before he returns.

Robinson finished his junior season with 14 catches for 245 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively he had 25 tackles and two interceptions.

"I have the ability to make plays," he said. "I have a great burst and good speed. I can break tackles well too. I'm also pretty strong and am always moving my feet.

"But I'd like to improve my hands and catch better," he said. "I also need better vision and awareness on the field."

He says he benches 225-pounds and has a 34-inch vertical jump.

"I love having the ball in my hands, but also love to hit," he said. "So I don't really care if I play receiver or corner."

Robinson is also a highly recruited track star with Olympic aspirations. "I'm definitely going to do track and football in college," he said. "My goal is to do the long jump in the Olympics."

He has a 21-foot long jump and runs the 100m (10.52) and the 200m (21.14).

Robinson says he wants to major in criminal justice and reports a 2.4 core GPA and an 810 SAT and 18 ACT. "My GPA last semester was a 3.4 and I've got a 3.7 now, so my grades will be going up," he said.
