We received a media release today from Compton J.C (Calif.) saying Tartar All-American running back Alvin Marshall committed to the Washington Huskies. The interesting thing is this appears to be news to Marshall himself.

In a media release from Compton JC (Calif.), the following read:

“Alvin has committed to the University of Washington where I am sure he will do very well," Tarter head coach Cornell Ward said. "I was very fortunate to have a player of his caliber on our team.”

Since the release, we've heard from multiple sources saying that not only has Marshall not committed to the Huskies, they may not even be one of his top choices right now. The interesting thing was in the same release, Compton linebacker John Andrews was said to have committed to Arizona State which we followed up on and that was accurate.

As a result, we assumed the Marshall commitment was true as well since it came complete with quotes from the head coach. I guess we all know the rule about assuming anything so as of now, it looks like the commitment was premature.
