Named Metro Athlete of the Week

Mississippi Scout

It is unusual to see a kicker named the Athlete of the Week but that is exactly what the 6' 4", 205 pound Jackson Aca standout earned.

Andrew Ritter kicked a 53 and 58 yard field goal and caught a pair of passes in their 40-7 win over Heritage in District 1-AAA.

The 58 yard field goal was one yard short of the Mississippi High school record set by Clarksdale's Lemeko Williams in 1994.

Power has never been a problem, as Andrew has kicked all 22 of his kickoffs back for touchbacks this season.

"Andrew's got a leg that is as strong as I have seen," stated Academy head coach, Joey Hawkins to the Clarion Ledger. "He worked over the summer with Jonathan Nichols and Scot Westerfield. That helped his technique."

Ritter holds a scholarship offer from Army and is being heavily recruited by Ole Miss.
