Marry Moving Closer to Making Cuts
"I've got to narrow down my list," stated Mike Marry. "I'm going to try and do that within the next few weeks but it's hard. Every time I think I have the list narrowed down a school sends me a letter with more information in it. I want to make the right decision and I need to continue to look in to my list of schools." Most of Marry's focus is locked in on the gridiron where Largo High School is off to a fast start. "We're 3-0. I have 27 tackles and 1 sack. I'm playing MLB on defense and I'm playing FB and TE on offense. I have 1 catch for 10 yards so far." What schools does the All-state honorable mention LB have on his mind. "Right now I like UCF, Michigan, Stanford, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Florida and Iowa State. That could change but those are my top seven right now." What does the Largo standout think about each of these schools? "UCF is close to home. They have a good engineering program and I like the way they practice." "At Michigan, the coaches are great. I also love the tradition they have there. I'm very close to Coach Frey. We talk a lot." "Stanford has great academics and I have also bonded with their coaches as well." "Ole Miss has one of my former teammates there, Dexter McCluster. I talk to Coach Vaughn and Dex a lot. I was already interested in them and they got a big win over Florida. That helped them but I won't make a decision off of one game." "I've always liked West Virginia. I really liked their old coaching staff that is now at Michigan. They got me interested in the school and I like their new coaching staff too." "Iowa State has great coaches. I have a friend that goes there as well. I like the way their coaches keep it real with you. They are honest and I like that." "I really like the way Florida practices. They have a lot of enthusiasm in their practices. I like the competition. I met with all of their coaches and they take care of their players. They haven't offered yet but I think they may be close." Do any coaches standout for Marry? "I really feel close to the coaches at Michigan, Ole Miss, Florida and Iowa State. Those coaches don't promise you anything. They don't promise you playing time or anything easy. They let you know that there will be competition and that playing there will be hard. I like that." Working hard shouldn't be a problem for Marry. During his junior campaign he registered 152 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. He also has a 3.75 GPA and reports 940 on the SAT.
