Montebello (Calif.) Cantwell Sacred Heart athlete Jeffrey Taylor (6-1, 195) continues to make an impact on the field, and coaches are finding their way to his school to check him out.
“I talked to the coaches from Washington State last week and they came to my game when they played UCLA. Fresno State has offered me too and I’m still talking to Oregon and Cal.”
Oregon State has also been showing interest in Taylor, as has Washington, and he’s got plans to make it up to Seattle at some point this fall.
“I’m going to the Oregon game at Cal and then up to Washington to see the Huskies,” said Taylor.
His hope is that Washington State joins the ranks of the offered.
“I think Washington State could be offering,” said Taylor. “I’ve been talking to the coach so Coach (Steve) Broussard came and saw my game on Friday.”
A two-way threat for Cantwell, Taylor is hearing from schools about playing on both sides of the ball, but if he has his choice, he’ll stay on offense.
“A lot of them have said receiver and some said maybe both ways, but I’d want to play receiver,” said Taylor.
Last weekend, with the Washington State coaches there, Taylor had six receptions for 110 yards.
Academically, he has a 2.5 GPA and will be taking the ACT later this month and the SAT next month.
Taylor had 31 receptions for 605 yards and seven touchdowns in 2007 and defensively had 87 tackles, seven picks and five breakups.
